Each spring, Friends of 187 releases its REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS for enrichment programming for the upcoming academic year. Educational program providers are encouraged to submit proposals following the attached RFP instructions by or around June 1.
Working in Partnership Friends of 187, a 501c3 not for profit, raises money via tax deductible donations to fund hands-on science and arts programs and teachers at PS/IS 187. Programs are funded across all grades and include Artist-In-The–Schools programs in architecture, music, and drama; art and science teachers; Junior Great Books, and more.

Mission Statement
The mission of Friends of 187 is to work together with the Parents’ Association, the School Leadership Team, 187 alumni, and the Washington Heights neighborhood to fund academic, artistic, and social enhancements at PS/IS 187. Friends of 187 strives to nurture the educational passions of our children through targeted financing of programs, facilities, and personnel that will serve to strengthen the school and enrich the community as a whole.
